Bathroom renovations,
built to last and to enjoy.

From a fresh ensuite tile-and-fixture swap to a full spa-style transformation — waterproofed, permitted and built by one design-build team, on a fixed quote.

Why Bathrooms Are Different

The room that punishes shortcuts most.

A bathroom renovation looks straightforward until the walls open up. Behind the tile is a waterproofing system, a ventilation setup, plumbing rough-ins, and — in many Lower Mainland homes — subfloor or joist work that needs attention before anything else can proceed. Skip any one of those layers and you're looking at mould, leaks, or a tile job that starts to crack within a few years.

Renohaus treats the infrastructure as seriously as the finish. We install a continuous waterproof membrane before any tile goes down, we slope floors correctly, and we upgrade ventilation to current BC Building Code. The result is a bathroom that looks great on day one and still works perfectly a decade later.

What a Renohaus bathroom includes

  • Waterproof membrane on all wet surfaces — walls, floors and curbs — before tile
  • Custom walk-in showers with frameless glass, linear drains and large-format tile
  • Double vanities, vessel sinks and wall-hung cabinetry sized to the space
  • Heated floor systems (electric mat or hydronic) with a programmable thermostat
  • Freestanding soaker tubs, freestanding filler faucets and feature walls
  • Plumbing, electrical and ventilation upgrades to current code
  • Permit handling with the City of Vancouver or your municipality
How a Bathroom Reno Runs

From first measure to final tile.

STEP 01

Design & Waterproofing Plan

On-site measure, layout and finish selections, membrane spec, fixture lead-times confirmed — and a fixed quote before anything else moves.

STEP 02

Permits & Order Fixtures

We pull any required plumbing or electrical permits and order tile, vanities, and fixtures early so the build stays on schedule.

STEP 03

Demo, Rough-In & Membrane

Protected site, full demo, plumbing and electrical rough-in, continuous waterproof membrane installed and inspected before tile starts.

STEP 04

Tile, Fixtures & Walkthrough

Tile, glass, vanity, lighting and accessories installed to plan. Detailed deficiency walkthrough, final clean and written workmanship warranty.

Most bathroom renovations run 3–5 weeks on site once demo begins. Larger ensuite or layout-change projects can run 5–7 weeks. You get a firm schedule before we start.

What It Costs

Bathroom renovation pricing in Vancouver.

Every bathroom is quoted on its own scope and condition — what's behind the walls matters as much as the finish selections. These Greater Vancouver ranges help you plan. You get one fixed price after design; no open-ended hourly billing and no surprise change orders.

  • Refresh ($12K–$20K) — new vanity, toilet, tile and fixtures within the existing layout, with no plumbing moves
  • Mid-range ensuite ($22K–$38K) — new walk-in shower, double vanity, full re-tile, updated ventilation and lighting
  • Spa / structural ($40K–$65K+) — layout change, heated floors, freestanding soaker tub, plumbing relocation and premium finishes throughout

Older Vancouver and Burnaby homes often have galvanized supply lines or cast-iron drains that need replacing — and many 1980s and 1990s ensuite floors hide inadequate or missing waterproofing. We identify all of that at the quote stage, not mid-build.

Where We Work

Bathroom renovations across Greater Vancouver.

We renovate bathrooms throughout Vancouver, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Richmond and Surrey. Whether it's a compact ensuite in a Kitsilano condo, a main bath in an East Van character house, or a primary suite in a West Van waterfront home, the waterproofing standard and the finish quality are the same. Each municipality issues its own permits; we handle whichever one applies to your address so the work is inspected and on record.

Bathroom Reno FAQ

Questions, answered.

Every wet area gets a continuous waterproof membrane — sheet-applied or liquid-applied — before any tile goes down. We slope shower floors correctly to drain, seal around all penetrations, and use cement board or equivalent substrate rather than drywall in wet zones. Waterproofing is the layer you never see, but it's the one that determines whether the bathroom lasts or leaks. We treat it as the most important step of the build.

A cosmetic refresh — new fixtures, tile and vanity in the existing footprint — typically runs $12,000–$20,000. A mid-range ensuite with a walk-in shower and double vanity lands between $22,000 and $38,000. A spa-level bathroom with heated floors, a freestanding tub and plumbing relocation starts around $40,000 and can reach $65,000 or more. Every project gets a fixed quote after the design stage, so you know the full cost before anything is demo'd.

Most bathrooms run 3–5 weeks on site once demo begins. Larger ensuites or projects involving plumbing moves or electrical upgrades can run closer to 5–7 weeks. We give you a firm schedule before work starts and a project manager who keeps you updated each week.

Yes — small bathrooms make up a good share of our projects. A compact 5×8 ensuite or a powder room under the stairs still needs proper waterproofing, tile work and fixture rough-in done correctly, and the per-square-foot cost tends to be higher than a larger space. We scope small projects with the same thoroughness as a full spa renovation.

Yes. Relocating a drain, moving a toilet or shower, or adding a new fixture location requires a plumbing permit in Vancouver and across the Lower Mainland. We pull that permit as part of the project so the work is inspected, code-compliant, and on record when you go to sell.
